After Getting Tangletongue, My Lightning Build Is Savage!

If you’re running a lightning-based build in Path of Exile 2 and you haven’t tried Tangletongue yet, you’re missing out. This unique item has completely changed the way my character plays. I went from dealing decent damage to melting mobs like butter. In this article, I’ll explain exactly how I integrated Tangletongue into my build, what PoE 2 items I used to support it, and how you can get your hands on the gear you need—whether you farm or buy PoE 2 items directly.

Why Tangletongue Is So Good for Lightning Builds
Tangletongue is a unique weapon that works incredibly well with elemental builds, especially lightning. It increases elemental penetration and offers high attack speed, which means you’re hitting faster and doing more damage through resistances. In PoE 2, enemies scale with resistance much more than before, so penetration is king.

When I equipped Tangletongue, I paired it with support gems like Added Lightning Damage and Elemental Focus. Then, I used Wrath Aura to further boost my lightning output. I also crafted a chest with increased elemental damage using Chaos Orbs and Orb of Alchemy. These are some of the most reliable PoE 2 currency tools when you want to make solid mid-tier gear on your own.

Farming vs Buying PoE 2 Items
At first, I tried farming everything I needed. I ran low-tier maps repeatedly, picked up every rare item, and used Orbs of Binding and Orb of Alteration to try and craft something usable. It worked… kind of. But it took a lot of time. That’s when I realized that it might be faster to just buy PoE 2 items from reliable sources. I picked up a decent amulet with lightning multiplier and a pair of gloves with increased attack speed for just a few Chaos Orbs.

Buying PoE 2 items saved me time and gave me exactly what I needed to complete my build. I still crafted a few pieces myself, especially using Divine Orbs to reroll item values once I had the right mods.

Lightning Build Tips with Tangletongue
If you want to maximize your setup, here’s a quick guide:

  1. Main Skill: Use Lightning Strike or Storm Rain with elemental support gems.
  2. Aura Setup: Always run Wrath, Herald of Thunder, and Precision for accuracy.
  3. Gear Priorities: Look for increased elemental damage, lightning penetration, and attack speed.
  4. Crafting: Use Essence of Wrath or Orbs of Alchemy to roll good prefixes.
  5. Jewels: Buy PoE 2 items like jewels with increased lightning damage or crit multiplier—they make a big difference.

Final Thoughts
Since getting Tangletongue, my PoE 2 lightning build has felt smoother, stronger, and more fun. Whether you want to grind for PoE 2 items or just buy PoE 2 items from trusted sources, there are plenty of ways to get what you need. This game rewards creativity and planning—so if you’re serious about power, gear up right and enjoy the sparks fly!
